about us

Observatory The Opticians and Wardale Williams The Opticians want you and your whole family to be able to see and hear the life that you love.

who we are

We are a group of multi-award-winning, independent opticians based in Suffolk, Essex and London N10.As an independent group, we take customer service seriously. We have over 1,900 Google reviews with an average rating of 4.95/5, have won the EADT Business Award for Customer Service, and are proud to be the only optician in the UK to have won Best Independent Optician twice at the prestigious Optician Awards.

We love what we do and are able to give you expert, impartial advice. As independent opticians, we are not tied to any specific brands. We attend optical trade shows to hand-select frames that we love and believe our patients will love too. Our eye tests are not rushed, giving you the time to ask questions and feel confident in your care.

Across the Observatory The Opticians family, including our Observatory and Wardale Williams practices, we offer friendly, independent eyecare, carefully chosen eyewear and personal advice tailored to you. Whether you are visiting for an eye examination, new glasses, contact lenses or hearing care, our team will be happy to help.

our capabilities

At Observatory Opticians, we provide comprehensive eye examinations by investing in advanced clinical technology such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography). The scanner automatically analyses your eyes against a reference database whilst securely storing your data to monitor for changes at subsequent visits. This advanced technology allows us to identify potentially sight-threatening conditions such as Glaucoma years before traditional methods could, ensuring we can take better care of your vision and secure prompt, timely referrals if required.

We are part of the NHS and provide free NHS eye tests to those who qualify. We sell a wide range of glasses and designer sunglasses and all major contact lenses. We offer children’s eyecare and are varifocal experts.
